Creating a Regular Subscription Plan
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”From your Subsy dashboard, go to Subscription Plans, then click + Recurring Plan in the top-right corner.
Step 1 — Plan Name & Description
Section titled “Step 1 — Plan Name & Description”Give your plan a name (e.g. “Coffee Subscription”) and an optional description. These are shown to customers on the product page.
Step 2 — Select Products
Section titled “Step 2 — Select Products”Choose one or more products to attach this plan to. The subscription price is taken directly from each product’s price — you don’t set a separate price here.
Step 3 — Plan Type
Section titled “Step 3 — Plan Type”Choose Recurring Subscription. (For prepaid, fixed-duration gifts, use Gift Subscription instead — see the Gift Plans guide — link placeholder, create when that page exists).
Step 4 — Configure Frequencies & Discounts
Section titled “Step 4 — Configure Frequencies & Discounts”This is where you define how often customers can receive deliveries, and how much discount each frequency gets.
- Click + Add New Frequency to add a delivery option (e.g. Weekly, Every 2 weeks, Monthly).
- For each frequency, set the Days (how many days between deliveries) and the Discount % (how much cheaper than the regular price).
- Customers will see all enabled frequencies at checkout and pick the one they want — the discount is applied automatically.
Example: Weekly → 7 days, 13% discount. A $20 product becomes $17.40/delivery on the weekly plan.
Step 5 — Trial Period (Optional)
Section titled “Step 5 — Trial Period (Optional)”Enable this if you want to offer a special price on the customer’s first delivery only.
- Free Trial — first delivery is $0.
- Discounted Trial — first delivery is discounted by a percentage you set (e.g. 50% off).
The trial always lasts exactly one delivery cycle — its length automatically matches whichever frequency the customer picks at checkout. There’s nothing separate to configure for trial duration.
After the first delivery, the subscription automatically returns to the regular (frequency-discounted) price — no action needed from you.
Step 6 — Tiered Pricing (Optional)
Section titled “Step 6 — Tiered Pricing (Optional)”Enable Quantity Discounts if you want to reward customers who subscribe to more units per delivery.
- Set Min Qty and Max Qty for each tier, and the Discount % for that tier.
- Leave Max Qty empty on your last tier to make it open-ended (e.g. “10+ items”).
- Quantity discounts stack with the frequency discount — for example, a customer on the Monthly plan (10% off) ordering 6 items (20% off) gets both discounts combined, not just one.
Example:
| Quantity | Discount |
|---|---|
| 1–2 items | Regular price |
| 3–5 items | 10% off |
| 6–9 items | 20% off |
| 10+ items | 30% off |
Step 7 — Pricing Overview & Create
Section titled “Step 7 — Pricing Overview & Create”Review the summary of prices across all your configured frequencies and tiers, then click Create Plan.
Once created, your plan appears in the Subscription Plans list with its status (Active), delivery frequencies, and price range shown at a glance. Customers will immediately see the subscription widget on the linked product page(s).
Managing an existing plan
Section titled “Managing an existing plan”From the plan list, you can:
- Edit — change frequencies, discounts, trial settings, or tiered pricing at any time.
- Disable — hide the plan from customers without deleting it (existing subscribers are unaffected).
- Delete — permanently remove the plan (only do this if no customers are subscribed to it).
